What you'll be doing
You'll be joining CIBC's Enterprise Technology team. As a member of CIBC's team, the application consultant is responsible for the detailed technical design and development of applications using various technology platforms. The role performs tasks of technical depth and breadth, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to conduct impact analysis and provide feedback on problems with recommended solutions. the Application consultant determines methods and approaches to projects, transforming business requirements specifications into programming instructions, designing, coding and testing programs. In addition, the role plays a key role in the development and implementation of database management solutions, development and implementation of data transformation and migration processes as part of the initiative of migration of on-premises applications to Azure. This includes building scalable data pipelines in Azure Databricks, Orchestrating pipelines using Azure Data Factory and workflows using Azure Databricks and integrating solutions with Azure Function Apps. The role uses judgement and autonomy on day to day tasks, exercising considerable latitude to conduct data source analysis and negotiate with users regarding requirements.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. How you'll succeedDesign and development - Develop, code and test end-to-end Azure applications. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including coding, testing, and debugging. Solid understanding of databases, Oracle, SQL and batch processing. Strong programming skills in Python and Scala. Familiarity with Java is an asset. Strong understanding of cloud-native development, data processing frameworks and hands-on experience working with Azure, especially in creating and managing data transformation processes using Azure Databricks.
Strategic planning - Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank's vision, strategy, and business goals. Lead multiple complicated projects, new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.
Leadership skills - Work closely with key business and technology partners to ensure that business and client impact issues are well understood and addressed. Ensure adherence to all regulatory and information security standards and policies are maintained in all aspects of the application management. Provide technical guidance concerning business implications of application development projects
Who you areYou can demonstrate experience in: 4-5 years of experience as an Application Developer/Support and Integration Specialist wearing multiple hats to help support applications and clients. You must have good knowledge and understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, and solid understanding of databases, Oracle, SQL, batch processing, FTP and SFTP. You should also have strong programming skills in Python and Scala. Familiarity with Java is an asset. You must have a strong understanding of cloud-native development, data processing frameworks and should have hands-on experience working with Azure, especially in creating and managing data transformation pipelines using Apache Spark in Azure Databricks. It's considered an asset to have prior experience migrating on-premises applications and workflows especially from Hadoop-based platforms to Azure. Experience in application production support including logical thinking, organizational and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage relationships with technology and business partners to ensure the systems and processes supporting the applications are operating effectively and efficiently.

You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
