Job Description

Our Closing Supervisors manage evening shifts throughout the season. They are mature and responsible leaders, ensuring all staff are well informed, organized, and working safely. Throughout the year, they demonstrate flexibility by balancing a mix of manual labour and administrative duties. They direct operations from the Warden's office and take the role of Incident Commander during emergencies. Buntzen Lake relies on thoughtful and proactive supervisors to keep us moving forward.

Responsibilities:



Managing closing shifts - ensuring staff are safe, motivated, and productive Cleaning washrooms, picnic tables, garbage bins, and performing other maintenance tasks Leading emergency response as the Incident Commander through delegation, communication, and policy implementation Ensuring the public are safe and that all staff are working towards this objective Training other staff, providing coaching, and constructive feedback Acting as the delegate for the Warden and Management when they are not present Managing the office, keeping it tidy, answering phone calls, receiving outside agencies, maintaining documents, etc. Upholding the Core Values of Parks West Enterprise Inc. Taking part-in and contributing to regular scenario training for incident response Keeping detailed and well-organized records of closing checklists, park closure sheets, incident reports, etc. Recognizing / addressing / communicating safety hazards Reporting to Management and contributing to meetings Leading safety tailboards and staff briefings Comprehensively understanding and implementing our rules, company policies, safety policies, operational protocol, etc. Fully understanding all other positions. When not the primary supervisor, fulfilling the responsibilities of other parks worker positions

Applicant Requirements:



Minimum 1 year of supervisor or management experience Strong communication skills, able to speak clearly, listen carefully and keep information flowing Positive leadership capability, able to confidently direct and lead by example. Team-based, non-prejudice and respectful approach Mature, professional attitude and ability to take detailed instructions and receive extensive training Detail oriented, able to understand and apply company policies, safety protocol, best work practices, etc. Able to remain calm and focused in potentially stressful situations Will work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extended boat patrols on hot days Self-motivated and able to keep others on task Able to seek help / delegate when appropriate Good physical fitness; can walk or stand for prolonged periods of time and lift heavy objects up to 50lbs Available to work 8 hour shifts up to 10pm and work over-time in emergency situations (occasional 7am opening shifts may be required). Capable of swimming to safety in unlikely event of water immersion Valid class 5 BC Driver's license with clean drivers abstract A PCOC must be acquired if hired WHIMS qualification is required if hired Steel toed boots are required if hired Additional training will be provided to successful candidates

Preference will be given to applicants who are:



More than 1 year's experience in supervision or management Qualified or experienced in first aid / emergency response / incident command (particularly OFA or ICS) Have previously worked in parks or outdoor management Experienced in enforcement, conflict resolution, or violence prevention Experienced in customer service / working with the public Previously been employed to drive a vehicle or have driven trucks or other large vehicles Fire suppression experience, including S-100 qualification or above Skills and/or experience relevant to other positions

Pay: $24.50-$28.00 per hour
