The Clinical Trials Manager position is a vital and challenging opportunity to advance the future of clinical care. In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of qualified Research Coordinators, Assistants, Associates, and RN's in the conduct of clinical trials. You will assist Principal Investigators (PI) in the staffing of clinical trials sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry and by academic-led Investigator Initiated clinical trials across several clinical specialty areas. The CTU requires strong leadership for strategic planning, business planning and setting operating standards to better serve Albertans. Strong collaboration is key to ensure successful relationships with AHS physicians, managers, leaders, staff, patients, and all stakeholders involved in conducting clinical trials. While the position manages staff located within the WMH and MAZ, the Unit will support PI in the conduct of studies across the Edmonton Zone.

Leadership: Some key Leadership and human resource management responsibilities in the CTU Manager position include recruiting clinical trial staff, managing staff workload balance between clinical specialty areas, provide mentorship, guidance and ensure positive engagement to the CTU. Developing a clinical trials training program current new and existing staff. Human resources: Employee management accountabilities include reviewing and approving time entry, performance evaluations and conflict management. In this Manager position, you will require financial oversight to monitor salary costs to ensure they are fully recovered from research projects, and adjust staffing model as revenues increase or decrease. Compliance and regulatory: Developing and coordinating internal process improvement initiatives as they relate to the conduct of regulated, high quality research studies across specialty groups is an important element in the Clinical Trials Manager role. Successful process improvement will require collaboration with AHS stakeholders to understand challenges of operating studies in AHS facilities and design processes to streamline the conduct of studies in their areas as well as collaboration with Regulatory Quality Assurance staff to meet requirements of Health Canada and sponsors.
