Responsibilities

The Nova Scotia Sisterhood through a holistic primary health care approach is to provide the opportunity to improve the health outcomes and well-being of the African Nova Scotian community in Halifax, specifically females.
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Clinical Therapist (CT) provides a wide range of clinical services to Nova Scotia Sisterhood patients and families. This position is responsible for clinical services that include screening, assessments, evaluation, and intervention. This role requires a high degree of independent practice, excellent assessment skills, the ability to formulate a clinical impression based on DSM V criteria, develop, and implement a comprehensive evidence-based plan of care which may include both individual and group psychotherapy, and provide an ongoing evaluation to monitor patient outcomes. This role also requires an understanding of the health issues and barriers that face African Nova Scotian women.
