About the Opportunity
The Clinical Therapist is a member of the Adult Service team in Mental Health and Addictions. Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Therapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the Adult Service team but in addition to those duties, participates in quality initiatives in the program of care, engages in collaborative person-centred care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice. The Clinical Therapist receives and provides supervision and mentorship as part of a community of practice. It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups. This position will also support ongoing crisis intervention training of local policing agencies for CIT certification and well as be available by phone to support close collaboration with CIT trained police officers to improve collaboration, coordination and communication between and among MHA and policing agencies.
