Responsibilities
The Borderline Personality Disorder Treatment Program (BPDTP) is an outpatient, tertiary care program that provides comprehensive and intensive treatment for adults with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The treatment approach is primarily Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), however also draws on process experiential, mentalization, and interpersonal therapy approaches. Team members contribute to the academic mandate of the Addictions and Mental Health Program through program evaluation, clinical research, teaching, clinical supervision, and consultation to other teams and services within the Addictions and Mental Health Program.
We are pleased to announce a 0.5 FTE long term assignment Clinical Therapist position to the service. Reporting to the Health Service Manager, Specialty Mental Health Services and the Clinical Director, BPDTP the Clinical Therapist will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing adult mental health services in the specialized area of BPD. They will provide direct clinical care by performing therapy both individually and in a group setting.
Consultation is an integral part of the program. As such, the Clinical Therapist will be expected to participate in weekly team consultation meetings and individual supervision as required. Debriefing after groups and informal consultation where concerns arise are also considered necessary within the team structure.
The Clinical Therapist must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to function both independently and as a member of a health care team.
It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.
