Position Summary
The Clinical Supervisor, PSW Program is responsible for overseeing and evaluating students during their clinical placements in long-term care homes, retirement residences, or community settings. This role ensures that students apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings under appropriate supervision, demonstrating professional competencies and ethical care practices in accordance with program standards and regulatory requirements.
What You Will Do
Supervise, coach, and evaluate PSW students during their clinical placements.
Liaise with host organizations and clinical partners to coordinate placement logistics.
Ensure students understand and follow safety, confidentiality, and professional care standards.
Provide ongoing feedback and support to students to promote their professional and clinical development.
Conduct site visits and ensure compliance with MCURES and Hanson College's policies and procedures.
Complete and maintain accurate student evaluation reports and placement documentation.
Address any issues that arise during placement and escalate to the Program Director when appropriate.
Attend faculty meetings and participate in program improvement activities.
Stay informed on changes in PSW standards, best practices, and healthcare regulations in Ontario.
What You Will Bring
Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration and no practice restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Minimum 3 years of recent experience working in a clinical setting with personal support workers, ideally in long-term care or community health.
Prior teaching or supervisory experience in a PSW or healthcare education setting is an asset.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and mentoring skills.
Ability to work independently and travel to clinical sites as required.
Strong organizational and reporting skills.
Working Conditions
Travel to multiple placement sites will be required within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Flexible hours depending on placement schedule; may include evenings or weekends.
