Position Description

The Clinical Research Project Coordinator coordinates clinical research studies according to regulatory and institutional guidelines and requirements. This includes screening and attending clinics to identify eligible study participants, coordinate patient recruitment and data collection, study administration, prepare consents and paperwork required by the Research Ethics Board, and organize data entry and analysis. The CRPC also assists in the preparation of study results, including presentations, progress reports, and manuscripts for internal and external conferences and meetings.


The CRPC will report to the Principal Investigator and Research Managers and may be involved in supervising trainees, students, and volunteers.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:



Lead patient recruitment and study operations for grant-funded trials in pediatric stroke that a) aim to better understand the neurocognitive and behavioural profiles of children with congenital heart disease, and b) explore the efficacy of certain treatments in in a subset of children with arterial ischemic stroke May assist Principal Investigator (PI) in new research proposals and preparation of grant applications; Contribute to preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts. Assist in design of case-report forms and/or questionnaire. Assist PI with science review process. Keep abreast of protocol specifics, regulations and policies governing clinical research. Develop informed consent documents based on regulations, REB consent templates and institutional requirements. Submit to REB and coordinate revisions. Assist study team with annual approval process and amend protocols and consents as required. Encourage and foster collaborative relationships with healthcare team at SickKids, other participating centres, and government and community agencies. Participate in audits, site visits and monitoring by SickKids and other regulatory bodies or industry sponsors. Conduct literature reviews and keep current with study literature. Assist with database design, in conjunction with PI and study team. Ensure the quality of the database and supervise database cleaning. Perform/assist with data entry and analysis, including querying database to support internal and external research requests. Attend stroke clinic to conduct relevant screening, recruitment and questionnaire administration; coordinate bookings (i.e., imaging, neuropsychological testing, blood testing) according to study protocol and serve as liaison between clinical and research team to execute all study requirements Attend departmental meetings or rounds to increase knowledge and understanding. Assist with design/development of promotional materials/newsletters. Assist with program's education and advocacy events

Here's What You'll Need:



A Master's degree in Epidemiology, Health Science or a related field with a minimum of two-three years experience in clinical research. Experience navigating multiple disciplines/departments, including diagnostic imaging or genetics, will be an asset. Function independently yet collaboratively within a team. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience navigating Electronic Health Records, and data platforms like REDCap is an asset. A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.
