Position Description

To support the launch of this new and exciting educational and quality improvement initiative - S.C.O.P.E. (SickKids Curriculum Optimizing Point-of-Care Ultrasound Education) - by ensuring accurate data collection, survey tracking, and documentation across all participants. This pilot year will include 6 participants (4 residents and 2 hospitalists), with plans to expand in subsequent years as the program scales.

Here's what you'll get to do



Data Management:

+ Track and verify completion of REDCap surveys for all 6 participants at baseline, immediate post-training, and 3- and 6-month follow-ups.
+ Monitor QPath data logs to confirm that each participant's educational scans, QA feedback, and credentialing milestones are correctly documented.
+ Maintain a concise tracking spreadsheet summarizing scan counts, OSAT completion, and QA review activity per participant.

Quality Improvement (QI) Support:

+ Assist with data entry and preparation of run charts to display scan volume and confidence trends over time.
+ Help compile quarterly reports summarizing QI indicators (e.g., scan uptake, QA participation, workload balance) to inform ongoing PDSA cycles.

Administrative Coordination:

+ Schedule QA review sessions, OSAT assessments, and brief progress meetings with faculty mentors.
+ Send reminders to ensure timely completion of REDCap forms and QPath uploads.
+ Maintain accurate records of faculty and trainee participation hours to demonstrate project workload for future sustainability reporting.

Deliverables and Opportunities for Growth:

+ Completion of REDCap and QPath compliance datasets for all participants.
+ Quarterly data summaries and updated run charts visualizing scan and confidence trends.
+ Organized documentation suitable for annual progress and grant reports.

Manuscript Preparation:

The assistant may contribute to manuscript development and, if interested, be included as a contributing author on resulting publications.

Future Expansion:

With anticipated program growth and future grant funding, this role offers opportunities to expand into grant preparation, research coordination, and data analysis across multiple S.C.O.P.E. - related projects.

Here's what you'll need



Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Psychology, Public Health, Education, or a related discipline). Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines in a dynamic clinical research environment. Demonstrated capacity for independent work, initiative, and accountability. Experience with REDCap for data entry, quality checks, project setup, or survey design. Proficiency in conducting literature reviews, including systematic searching, data extraction, and synthesis. Demonstrated commitment and concrete actions toward advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion goals within research or academic settings.

Assets



Prior experience working in pediatric, emergency medicine, or POCUS-related research. Skills in data management or basic statistical analysis (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R). Experience preparing research posters, abstracts, or manuscripts. Familiarity with health-system workflows or quality-improvement methodology (e.g., PDSA cycles, run charts). Comfort collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (clinicians, radiology, nursing, research operations).

Employment type



0.12 FTE (approximately day per week for 12 months; work may be flexibly organized by the assistant to optimize efficiency) Work Model: Hybrid ' primarily remote with onsite at SickKids for team meetings, data collection activities, or project-specific needs.
