. This Full-time Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 24 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Clinical Research Coordinator will be based at the Colon Cancer Screening Centre (CCSC), Cal Wenzel Precision Health Building, University of Calgary, Foothills Campus. This position reports to the CCSC Director Research.
The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for the organization and conduct of a clinical research study, including recruitment of participants, scheduling participant activities, data collection and data entry.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Coordinate and administer a clinical research project per established study protocol and procedure manuals
Recruitment of participants through in-person and telephone interactions
Conduct consent discussions and obtain informed consent from participants
Contact participants, schedule research activities, conducting telephone and in clinic interviews and ensuring data is submitted accurately
Interview participants, enter data, and administer questionnaires
Provide guidance to participants regarding clinical sample collection
Assist in the collection, delivery, entry, verification, management, analysis and reporting of data
Responsible for maintaining ethical and confidentiality standards
Ensure relevant research methodology is applied, and proper handling of all research material is used
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant health related field (required)
Master's Degree (considered an asset)
2 - 5 years of relevant clinical research experience (clinical trials, multicenter studies, registry studies) is required
Recognized research professional certification (e.g. CCRP, Certified Clinical Research Professional) an asset
Experience working with the public is a strong asset
Ability to communicate effectively with the general public and patients in-person and on the phone
Experience working in a post-secondary institution or hospital is an asset
Knowledge of health and scientific terminology is a strong asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
Experience using REDCAP is a strong asset
Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS2) is required
Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to function independently and within a team environment are required
