Position Overview:


Shouldice Hospital is seeking a high-energy and dynamic healthcare leader to join our nursing management team to serve as Clinical Practice Leaders (CPL) for nursing departments of pre-operative, inpatient Care, post-operative, MDRD, and Operating Room. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing and Patient Experience.

The CPL provides coverage for, the Clinical Managers in Inpatient Care Unit and the Operating Room services, ensuring continuity of leadership and clinical standards across surgical services. As an integral member of the nursing management team, the CPL is an innovative surgical expert with leadership, clinical care and academic responsibilities.

The CPL is responsible for overseeing and supervising clinical and professional practice and developing professional expertise by mentoring, coaching, and supporting staff.

The CPL, in consultation with other managers, directors, and staff, is to develop and integrate professional standards into daily practice, and facilitate professional involvement in quality, education and research initiatives.

Requirements:



Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Baccalaureate degree completed in Nursing (BScN). Master's degree in nursing or health care related fields, completed or in progress. Perioperative Nursing Certificate will be asset. Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical and/or Operating Room. Minimum 2 years experience in leadership, educator, practice leader role. Current (BLS) and Advance Cardia Life Support (ACLS) certification. Medical Device Reprocessing Techniques Course will be an asset Canadian Nurse's Association Certification - i.e. Medical-surgical, Operating Room. Expert in digital and electronic applications, MS 365(Excel, PPP, Word). Experience with designing education modules, online, and microlearning. Knowledge of competency base learning, learning assessments and evaluations Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, tools, techniques and principles. Well versed with CNO practice and professional standards and guidelines. Experience with project management or program planning, and LEAN methodology. Developed policies and procedures and learning packages for both staff and patients. Evidence of strong mentoring, teaching, organizational and prioritization skills. Process and policy oriented Strong knowledge of surgical workflows, infection control, and regulatory standards. Provide management and on-call coverage for the inpatient care and the Operating Room services managers ensuring continuity of operations and seamless management coverage. Understanding of collective agreement and worked in unionized environments. Demonstrated commitment to excellence, family and Patient-Centered-Care. Able to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively. Demonstrated innovative approach to problem solving. Able to work collaboratively across all departments and disciplines. Ability to implement change in a positive, sensitive and forward-thinking manner. Demonstrated commitment to holding self and others accountable to high standards. Excellent judgment with an ability to act decisively. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community partners. Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Shouldice Hospital Quality and Safety practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety.

Hours of Work:



This is a regular full-time management position that requires flexibility with regards to hours of work based on operational needs, as part of the Nursing management team, with typical hours of work as 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and alternate Saturdays and on-call.
