The Clinical Occupational Therapist I is responsible for providing assessment, treatment and education to an inpatient and/or outpatient population with primarily stroke, spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury as well as other progressive neurological conditions. Intensive daily rehabilitation is provided with a focus on all areas of occupational performance, including self-care, productivity and leisure. This position works as part of an interdisciplinary team and is a member of the Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and Geriatrics Program Occupational Therapy practice group. The position supervises Occupational Therapy Support Workers as part of the delivery of interventions to clients. The OT will be responsible to precept Occupational Therapy students and offer other clinical education experience to students within Eastern Health.This position reports to the Division Manager and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Occupational Therapy for integrity and professional practice issues. Unit/case assignment to be determined and is subject to change based on operational requirements.Job Demands

Fine finger/precision is required on a regular basis when performing work on the computer
Visual and auditory concentration is regularly required as well as higher than normal levels of attentiveness or alertness.Job Qualifications
Graduate of a school or program of occupational therapy recognized by the board.
Current licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with interprofessional team members, patients/residents/clients and their families in a one-to-one and group environment.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills required for client documentation and report writing.
Demonstrated effective time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor Occupational Therapy Support Workers and students.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
Proven ability to assume professional responsibility for safe, ethical and effective practice.
