The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.About the OpportunityReporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible (in collaboration with key stakeholders) for the assessment, implementation, planning and evaluation and supportive application of existing and new clinical knowledge and the translation of knowledge to practice. The prime focus of the CNE is to build capacity and be present at the point of care to develop and contribute to core and specialty programs while advancing practice. The CNE practices according to the Registered Nurses Act, Nova Scotia College of Nursing and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.The CNE demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership and professional practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator exhibits the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that align with the lnterprofessional Practice and Learning Framework. This framework is grounded in theories of adult and concept based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care and collaborative learning and practice.This position requires periodic travel to facilities within the Eastern Zone. Access to reliable transportation is required.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Masters\' in Nursing an asset
  • Active practicing license in good standing with NSCN required
  • Minimum three years full-time clinical experience within last five years in Mental Health & Addictions required
  • Recent experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator/Nursing Instructor preferred
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification required, ACLS preferred
  • Adult Education Program an asset or willing to complete
  • Relevant CNA/other specialty certification required or willing to complete
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Previous teaching experience which involves designing, implementing and evaluating traditional & non-traditional methods of instruction preferred
  • Recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in clinical practice & education
  • Working knowledge of program development, implementation & evaluation
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal & communication skills in varied contexts
  • Demonstrated initiative & innovative problem solving
  • Computer skills including complete Microsoft Suite & computer documentation systems
  • Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity and inclusivity with a focus on intersectional values, analysis, and actions, clinical humility, and the responsible use of power and privilege.
  • Physical demands - setting up rooms, walking and standing, movement of educational resources/tools with facilities & across sites
  • Ability to manage stressful situations, competing demands, & conflict
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
