Position Description:
The Clinical Manager of In-Patient Care reports directly to the Director of Nursing and Patient Care and is accountable and responsible for the provision of clinical oversight supporting the delivery of quality, compassionate, culturally sensitive, cost -effective and efficient clinical care to patients and their families. The Manager works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and Patient Care and Chief of Surgery to ensure delivery of responsive, safe, quality care for all patients, pre and postoperatively. Responsible for the overall organization and leadership of the In-Patient Care Unit.

Position Responsibilities:
Creating a dynamic patient centered and team focused environment where staff can grow and thrive in their roles
Developing, leading and managing clinical program plans and achieving operational goals
Experience in administering and posting staff schedules in a unionized environment
Strategic planning and execution of Shouldice Hospital action plans
Fostering a healthy work environment conducive to interprofessional collaborative practice reflecting innovation and creativity
Establishes and supports implementing appropriate policies and processes to ensure delivery of safe patient care
Responsible for oversight of continuous quality improvement initiatives and reporting performance metrics
Accountable for operating a balanced budget and strategies to address variance analysis
Facilitating the management of daily fiscal, human and material resources assigned to ensure optimal quality of care, patient safety standards and outcomes
Maintains compliance with Shouldice Hospital policies and legislative requirements
Responsible for all aspects of patient care recruitment and retention for patient care areas
Liaising and collaborating with internal and external professionals and stakeholders to ensure practice standards are aligned and integrated across the hospital and nursing
Establishing and representing the global overview of the program through sound and influential decision-making and achievement of the strategic and operational plans
Performing other duties consistent to the job classification and as required by the hospital.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) is required
Master's degree in business or healthcare is preferred
Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Proven knowledge and experience in Labor Relations and Collective Agreements
Minimum three years of leadership and operational management experience in hospital setting
Strong focus on patient and family experience to ensure an exceptional patient/family experience is delivered
Demonstrates well developed critical thinking skills and an ability to analyze problems and bring forward strategic solutions
Demonstrated change management and project management experience
Experience in quality, resource and utilization management and planning
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and team building
Professional membership in RNAO
Complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures to foster a healthy working environment
Understanding of financial skills related to budgets, variance analysis and planning
Demonstrated collaborative skills to garner respect and credibility with all the interprofessional team members
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Demonstrates honesty, integrity, confidence and resilience

Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation and data entry.
