THE OPPORTUNITY As the Clinical Manager reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, your role is pivotal in ensuring efficient and effective operations on patient care floors. GBGH has 2 Acute Medicine and Surgical in-patient care units with a combined census of 67-beds with the ability for additional surge volumes to meet hospital occupancy demands. Reporting directly into this role the manager, staff, patients, and families will be supported by a supervisor to compliment this dynamic team. As the manager you lead initiatives to enhance accountability, respect, and patient care quality, while also managing human, financial, quality, risk, and clinical resources within assigned units. Your leadership will empower and develop your team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Building positive relationships within the department and across the organization is paramount, facilitating collaboration and driving continuous improvement in patient care delivery. In your role as the Clinical Manager, you will oversee patient care, day-to-day administrative, human resource, financial. You ensure that organizational initiatives align with GBGH\'s strategic direction, relevant legislation, corporate policies, and collective agreements, and may lead initiatives as assigned. It\'s your responsibility to ensure the completion, sustainability, measurement, continuous monitoring, and evaluation of corporate and patient care initiatives. You keep the Director of Clinical Services informed of any issues or concerns promptly, participate daily in bed flow management, and address potential risk and safety issues while embracing change positively. Serving as a role model, you coach and mentor staff to function cohesively as a team, foster the development of nursing staff through partnerships, attend Patient Family Council Meetings, and oversee hiring, management, and performance reviews according to policies and agreements. Additionally, you manage budgets and resource utilization at the unit level, monitoring and reporting on variances in budget and patient care statistics, while fostering effective labour relations through understanding and implementing collective agreements. Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree from an accredited university is required; a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a health-related field is preferred.
  • A Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Knowledgeable and proficient with the CNO standards of practice.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in either Acute Care or Rehabilitation/Complex Continuing Care Hospital settings.
  • Preference for at least three (3) years of recent managerial or leadership experience. Minimum of at least one year in a leadership role.
  • Training and experience in Lean Health Care improvement methods are considered advantageous.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development through active participation in relevant continuing education and professional associations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Windows OS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong email management skills.
  • Proven track record in effectively resolving human resource issues through facilitation, collaboration, and negotiation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of labour relations, collective agreements, legislative requirements, and medical-legal issues, with a commitment to staying updated on industry changes and risks.
  • Familiarity with Lean management philosophy and the ability to leverage Lean tools to optimize departmental performance is an asset.
  • Strong change management skills demonstrated ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in high-pressure environments with competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at working within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Successful leadership experience, with a focus on fostering effective teamwork, interpersonal relationships, and stakeholder consensus.
  • Dedication to client service and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
  • Professional demeanor, respecting protocol, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Proficient in communicating effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and families across all levels of the organization.

  • French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position.

  • $123,328 to $135,747, plus a generous vacation allotment.
