Overview

Academy of Healthcare Services (AHCS) is seeking an experienced and compassionate

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

to join our team as a

Clinical Instructor / Practicum Preceptor

. In this role, you will supervise and mentor AHCS practicum students during their clinical placements in various care settings.

This position is ideal for an LPN who is passionate about teaching, enjoys supporting student learning, and is committed to maintaining high standards of clinical practice and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor AHCS practicum students in home care and clinical environments Oversee and evaluate student performance to ensure safe and competent care Provide hands-on guidance in areas such as: Medication administration Vital sign monitoring and health assessments Wound care and basic treatments Mobility and personal care assistance Phlebotomy and specimen collection (as applicable) Support students in accurate documentation using electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.) Reinforce safety protocols, infection control standards, and professional ethics Conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback to promote student growth and confidence Collaborate with AHCS leadership and partner facilities to ensure a positive practicum experience Model professionalism, compassion, strong clinical skills, and patient-centered care

Qualifications

Active

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

registration in Alberta Experience in one or more clinical settings: Long-term care Hospitals / acute care Assisted living Home care Pediatrics Dementia or hospice care Strong understanding of medication administration, clinical procedures, and documentation practices Experience with electronic health records (Epic, Cerner, etc.) is an asset Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities Ability to work independently and support multiple students Compassionate, patient, and committed to student success Phlebotomy or case management experience considered an asset
