Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of the Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS); the Clinician provides daily direction, clinical and operational support in real time to Clinical Information Resource Specialists I (CIRSI) staff within the poison center. In addition to providing immediate support to staff, this position also assists in the day to day problem solving related to staffing, technology, and business processes as requested by the management team. The position also supports Quality and Safety activities through participation in staff education sessions, call assessment and coaching of staff as well as ongoing orientation and continuing education needs. Based on their extensive work experience and clinical expertise of the roles, responsibilities, and systems within the poison center, the Clinician supports staff’s critical thinking and provides constructive feedback to ensure that clients to the center receive the right information, treatment recommendations, and disposition at the right time and that staff continue to work to their greatest potential in the delivery of safe, effective and appropriate care and service.

Description:

As a Clinical Information Specialist II, you will be responsible for providing leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities for the Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS) team. This can include orientation, compulsory education, clinical development and continuing education. You will be responsible for the delivery of programs based on department needs, continuing competencies, data collection and quality improvement.

Required Qualifications: Completion of bachelor's degree in Nursing or Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable college. Additional Required Qualifications: For Pharmacists: Current registration in good standing with Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP) and Northwest Territories DHSS Professional Licensing Office required. Baccalaureate degree in pharmacy required. Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI) designation an asset. 3 years hospital or clinical pharmacy experience required within the last 5 years. For Registered Nurses: Current registration in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) required. The successful candidate will require licensure in Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU) and Saskatchewan (CRNS) with more information provided upon hire. 3 years Acute Care experience required within the last 5 years 2-5 years of poison center experience. Creative, flexible, well-organized, and demonstrated systems thinker. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills including providing peer feedback. Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach staff. Knowledge and experience working with IT/web based platforms: (Genesys, NetCARE, eCritical, ToxiCall, SCM, and EPIC). Ability to promote and champion the change process. Application and promotion of problem solving and creative thinking. Ability to critique development of staff and provide meaningful feedback. Ability to prioritize and meet competing demands/requirements. Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI) designation an asset. A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in leading teams, adult education. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently. Excellent ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, staff and management. Excellent organizational skills, strong ability to handle sensitive and ethical issues. Demonstrated strong analytical, decision making, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work in an evolving fast-paced busy environment and commitment to working in a team environment.
