LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH




Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, cancer and supportive care, dialysis and other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography. The hospital serves the catchment area of west Northumberland County. A mixed urban and rural population of approximately 67,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, Alderville First Nation and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick/Haldimand. ROLE OVERVIEW




Working collaboratively with the Clinical Informatics, Professional Practice, Quality, Safety and Risk and Performance and Analytics teams, among other stakeholders, the Clinical Informatics Specialist ensures interdisciplinary project coordination. The Clinical Informatics Specialist is knowledgeable about nursing practice, regulatory requirements, and principles of quality improvement. Clinical informatics projects are planned and implemented using evidence-based practices for planning, understanding, guiding, and delivering responsible care to provide exceptional care, every time, for every person.



Key Responsibilities:


Ensures the completion and effectiveness of assessing, planning, implementation, evaluation, and optimization of clinical informatics projects Provides a nursing perspective and articulates nursing needs related to integration of technology in patient care delivery Evaluates necessary changes in nursing clinical practice and workflow related to technology Liaises with all departments as needed to support clinical practice initiatives Leads initiatives to use the Clinical Information System to improve clinical practice Assists patient care managers and others in the interpretation and use of data for decision-making Participates in regional workgroups and acts as a liaison for NHH in regional initiatives as required

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS



Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Master's degree in Nursing or related field, or actively pursuing Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Minimum of three years of clinical experience using a clinical information system Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with health care members providing care for patients Excellent analytic skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies Knowledge of the nursing process and nursing practice Knowledge of mandates of regulatory and accrediting bodies Strong computer skills (databases, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, and internet searches) Demonstrated compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Infection Prevention and Control practices Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS




Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.


Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
