Closing Date: June 1, 2024Position SummaryThe Clinical Informatics team at UHN applies subject matter expertise in health information systems, clinical workflows and practice, and people change management to design and implement information and communication systems. Working collaboratively with medical, nursing, health profession, and Digital teams, the Clinical Informatics team identifies, translates, and implements process changes, system enhancements, and targeted training that reinforce safe and quality patient care, increase health information system usage proficiency, and improve the clinician experience through digitally-enabled solutions.The team also plays an integral role in organizational information system downtime preparedness and is a part of the Digital Project Management Office (PMO) team which applies best practices for managing projects, people change, risk, and value delivery.We are seeking a highly experienced clinical informatics leader who brings innovative thinking, an acumen for problem-solving and relationship management expertise to engage with executives and clinical leadership at all levels. The Clinical Informatics Senior Manager will oversee a team of clinical informatics senior specialists and facilitators that thrive in the interface of clinical practice and emerging technologies.Duties

  • Collaborate with clinical, business, and Digital leadership to establish clinical informatics program roadmaps, translate strategic objectives into business cases and organizational initiatives
  • Liaise across clinical and technical oversight groups to understand and shape requirements, and solve complex clinical system problems at an enterprise level
  • Apply extensive knowledge in clinical workflows and use cases for clinical systems to implement new system and process enhancements, especially for UHN\'s primary health information system, Epic
  • Review, select and test new healthcare technologies
  • Define appropriate training and reinforcement initiatives to support clinical practice and system adoption
  • Apply formal project management, assuming end-to-end ownership for planning and delivery for a mix of projects with complex requirements
  • Manage and coach assigned staff; this includes responsibilities for recruiting, staff development, performance management and resource allocation
  • Maintain a strong focus on governance, change management and communications with an emphasis on outcomes, value delivery, and customer service
  • Proactively identify and manage risks and issues with appropriate escalation to senior leadership
  • Support development of clinical information system downtime procedures and tools, including working group leadership with oversight for maintenance and ongoing improvement
  • Be part of an on-call leadership rotation schedule to support UHN Digital\'s emergency response to critical information system downtimes
Qualifications
  • Clinical designation and current registration with a regulatory College in Ontario required.
  • Master\'s degree in Nursing or other regulated Health Profession, Health Informatics, Health Administration, Business Administration or related field required
  • Minimum of 6 years of clinical practice, clinical informatics, clinical practice or related experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project or program management
  • Strong proficiency in Epic as a user, in developing Epic modules, and Epic certifications are strongly preferred
  • Supervisory or managerial experience required
  • Excellent team building, coaching, and group facilitation skills
  • Excellent presentation, writing and training skills
  • Excellent budget management skills and proficiency in data analytics to support IT investments
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills at the executive and senior management level
  • Strong strategic critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficient use of desktop publishing and spreadsheet software required (e.g. MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel); an asset to have experience with MS Project and Visio and other project management software
  • Other certification (PMP, Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt, ITIL, IIBA, Change Management) preferred
