The Hopital de Mattawa Hospital invites applications for two (2) temporary part-time Nursing Clinical Externs for a duration of up to four (4) months.

Our 19-bed bilingual Hospital is located in the town of Mattawa, Ontario. Role:

The clinical extern will be working as unregulated health care provider under direct and/or indirect supervision of an appointed registered nursing professional and as per hospital policy to:

Practice behaviours consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Employer Participate as a team member in patient assessment and activities of daily living, contribute to care planning and evaluation, and communicate care through documentation/report Provide assistance with lifting, turning, transferring, transporting, and ambulating Provide measures to ensure skin integrity and reduce pressure injuries Assist with comfort measure and patient safety by ensuring the environment is clean/tidy and hazard free Maintain dignity, self-esteem, privacy, and confidentiality of patients and families Requests assistance with assigned duties whenever in need Other duties, as assigned Scheduling may include day/evening/night and weekend shift

Qualifications:

Nursing students in second or higher year of study in a College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) approved Baccalaureate Nursing (BScN or BN) program and Practical Nursing (PN) program may be considered for these positions, with evidence of excellent academic standing and recent completion of a clinical placement Current certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support required Demonstrated infection prevention and control practices Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Excellent problem-solving, decision making, critical thinking, organizational, and time management skills Bilingual in English and French (preferred)*
Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (subject to accommodation obligations pursuant to Ontario Human Rights Code) Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector
