Position Summary

Clinical Externs are unregulated healthcare providers who work as part of an interprofessional team under the supervision of regulated healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, dressing, toileting, and incontinence care.

Mobility Support:

Provide assistance with lifting, turning, transferring, and transporting patients.

Clinical Tasks:

Perform duties such as taking vital signs and completing falls risk or supporting skin integrity interventions.

Documentation:

Accurately document care in the clinical record according to organizational standards.

Collaboration:

Participate actively as a team member and request assistance with assigned duties whenever needed.

Position Requirements:

Nursing Students:

Enrolled in 2nd year or greater of a CNO-approved Baccalaureate Nursing (BScN or BN) program, or in the 2nd semester or greater of a Practical Nursing (PN) program.

Internationally Educated Nurses:

Enrolled in a CNO approved program (EPIEN), 2nd semester or greater

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

required.

Preferred Requirements:

Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA)

preferred.
