POSITION SUMMARY:
Health Disciplines Clinical Educators are leaders, and positive change influencers, in health discipline clinical education, student learning, and staff skill development, working to optimize safe, quality program based outcomes and experiences. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission and Values of Unity Health Toronto. Health Disciplines Clinical Educators hold one portion of their role in Professional Practice and the other portion within a Clinical Program.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Health Disciplines Clinical Educator, and Physiotherapist in the Stroke/Neurology Program major responsibilities will include but not be limited to work as:
an interprofessional resource leader for staff and students clinical skill development
a role model for change management initiative planning, implementation, evaluation and sustainability
a point resource to triage and facilitate team and clinical issues that arise in the Stroke/Neurology Program
a coach to foster and support professional learning and professional development in initiatives involving physiotherapy
a champion program based interprofessional team development
a provider of physiotherapy patient care in the stroke and neurology area of practice
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Program orientation and unit onboarding of students and staff;
Modeling excellence in clinical skill, team collaboration and integration of Unity Health Toronto Values;
Coaching and mentoring performance issues to enable clinical professional development;
Acting as a consultant in complex patient situations;
Providing input into decisions impacting clinical practice, recruitment and retention, and other workplace issues;
Supporting frontline staff in the utilization of platforms, tools and resources that foster deep awareness of best practices at Unity Health Toronto;
Designing meaningful learning experiences in keeping with evidence best practice guidelines, emerging research advancements, adult learning principles & interprofessional competencies;
Participating in formal and informal evaluation of education programs
Providing excellent clinical assessment, treatment, education of patients in the stroke and neurological population
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Master's degree from a recognized University or equivalent;
Licensed/registered member regulatory college member in good standing;
Excellence in profession/program relevant clinical experience;
Demonstrated supporter of team based practice and solid understanding of inter-professional practice and collaboration;
Strong leadership skills and decision making skills;
Proven track record of success in a teaching/mentoring role;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and coordination skills;
Very good attendance record;
Good performance record.
