Posting Summary:
Clinical Counsellors are professionals who have been trained and are qualified to provide psychotherapy and other counselling and Mental Health services with individuals, families, and groups. Clinical Counsellors treat mental, behavioural, emotional and family based problems and disorders.
The main goal of Pivot Point's Clinical Counsellors is to use counselling strategies, and/or to oversee the progress and development of their clients, to help people live a more satisfying and effective life. This work typically involves identifying a small set of client chosen goals, finding potential solutions and strategies to reach those goals, then walking that path together, or overseeing others as they implement those strategies with the client family.
Are YOU ready to provide clinical counselling to clients (youth, teens, and adults either in-person or through video conferencing?
Can YOU provide clinical case-management and oversight in situations where it is appropriate to delegate Mental Health and other skill building strategies to others (such as parents, clients, or FSW's or frontline staff members)?
Can YOU act as a liaison between client and the organization, or community members as needed by providing consultation and support to agency staff, families, and others regarding ways to support the client, to the level appropriate and authorized by the client?
Can YOU remain aware of current literature and trends in the mental health field, and keep one's professional designations in good standing?
Duties and Responsibilities:
To work with the Mental Health Program Manager & Executive Director to help set and accomplish long and short-term goals towards the advancement of Pivot Point's Mental Health services throughout BC.
Provide intake related "Information Calls" to prospective clients seeking services, to help determine suitability of fit between needs and services.
Provide agency related Case Management services starting at the first session, and throughout the course of treatment where needed, ensuring each client and counselling service complies with agency policies and thus is CARF compliant.
Utilize agency approved diagnostic assessment procedures and psychometric methods to facilitate evidence-based treatment planning, and to monitor the efficacy of treatment per case throughout the course of treatment, as needed.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in counselling or counselling related discipline from an accredited university.
Professional registration/licensing designation (RCC, RSW, CCC) preferred
Strong clinical counselling skills, ideally with a strong background in conditions usually first diagnosed in childhood, including developmental disabilities and their impact on family.
Proven organizational skills in managing client caseloads
Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills
Advanced people management skills.
Able to work autonomously, yet within the scope of an accredited agency and under the supervision of another clinician.
Well versed in conducting assessments, draft treatment plans, then oversee the work of others who implement those plans.
You MUST be able to provide the following:
A clear Criminal Record Check
Willingness to obtain Emergency First Aid/Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (or Mandt)
Accept that hours of work may not always be within normal office working hours (including weekends and evenings).
