Job Description

Cythera Transition House Society's Elyra Counselling program offers comprehensive clinical counselling services that focus on supporting women+ (inclusive of trans, non-binary folx and cis-women). For over 30 years, Cythera has been a trusted leader in the community, supporting those impacted by gender-based violence and providing education to other professionals. Rooted in our longstanding commitment and trusted presence in the community, Elyra Counselling expands the agency's impact by offering general clinical counselling services and reducing financial barriers to these services.

ACCOUNTABILITIES



Deliver individual counselling to clients in accordance with program guidelines and agency policies

Facilitate group counselling

Provide a client-centered, trauma-informed approach to care

Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records

Participate in supervision, consultation, and professional development

Facilitate educational workshops about intimate partner violence, abuse, sexualized violence and gender-based violence

Work within third party program guidelines, ex. Crime Victims Assistance Program

Adherent to ethical guidelines and professional standards

Maintain and update skills and knowledge to remain current with ongoing developments in the field

Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS



Education, Training and Experience:



Master's degree in counselling psychology, with a minimum of five years of recent related clinical experience

Registration with a relevant professional association, such as the BCACC or CCPA

Additional Requirements:



Acceptable Criminal Record Check is required.

Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Acceptable Driver's Abstract (provided annually).

Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver's License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle.

Position requires Union Membership.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES



Strong knowledge of trauma-informed, client-centered care frameworks, particularly in the context of intimate partner violence, complex relationships, and post-abuse recovery.

Effective communication and public speaking abilities, to facilitate community education related to gender-based violence, abuse prevention, and support services.

Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrate excellent organization and time-management skills

Ability to work with a minimum of supervision but to work effectively in a team setting.

Capacity to foster effective working relationships with other professionals and systems that clients interact with

Shift/Schedule/Hours per week:

Temp part-time;28 hours per week until March 31, 2026 or until return of the incumbent, whichever occurs first

Wage/Salary:

starting at $44.54/hour
