Description:

As a Clinical Assistant, you will be working alongside physicians, nurses, pharmacists and dieticians. You will examine patients, document patient history, conduct complete physical examinations, develop treatment plans in consultation with the attending/supervising physician, write appropriate orders, and enter these orders into the patient care system, either electronically or manually. An important part of this field of practice and role is including caring for patients registered in clinical research trials. Appropriate supervision and support are provided and will begin with a formal orientation and assessment. In this position you will deliver care to patients at the Alberta Children\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital (ACH) including after hours and on weekends and statutory holidays when no resident is available within a multidisciplinary team in Addiction and Mental Health, Calgary Zone. You would be responding to psychiatric consults in the ER and throughout the hospital as well as addressing transfers from and to other sites and emerging issues on any of our inpatient units. In a non-call capacity, this position may be scheduled to work on any of the aforementioned units but possibly also working in Day Hospital or possibly in other outpatient capacities.

Additional Required Qualifications: Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada (e.g., Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with open work permits). AHS\'s pre-screening process reviews applicants for these criteria, but a final determination is only made by the CPSA when registration is initiated for the successful job applicant. Postgraduate Training (must be hospital-based training in clinical services providing direct patient care interaction in the acute care setting). Letter of Offer from Alberta Health Services (AHS will provide confirmation to the CPSA and initiate the registration process for the successful applicant in our job search). Successful completion of AHS\'s Clinical or Surgical Assistant orientation program (successful applicant will receive an Orientation & Assessment once registered with the CPSA). Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who have recent experience in an acute care facility. Prior experience working as a Clinical Assistant in a Canadian health care setting is an asset; specifically, those who have had specific experience within the last 3 years in addiction & mental health.
