This is an alternate physician provider role in which the successful candidate will work with a limited medical license issued from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). The incumbent will work within the Department of Anesthesia at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre under the direction of an attending and within a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care. An Anesthesia Clinical Assistant assists a hospital or outpatient care center\'s anesthesia team during surgical procedures and in nonsurgical settings such as Outpatient clinics and hospital care wards. Their primary duties include monitoring the status of patients, administering anesthesia, and providing emergency medical assistance as required. This posting is open only to those who have submitted a completed application package to the Alberta Clinical and Surgical Assistant Program (ACSAP) and have received confirmation that they are registered with ACSAP.

We are currently hiring 2 Clinical Assistant (CA) positions to support the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre Anesthesia Department. These positions represent an opportunity created for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to be selected and prepared for work as Clinical Assistants in clinical departments. IMGs are landed immigrants, Canadian citizens and/or have employment authorization from the Canadian government and fulfill the program requirements. The main responsibility for an Anesthesia Clinical Assistant (CA) is to assist the anesthesiologist and care for patients before, during and after procedures. Prior to a procedure, the CA gathers all the information the anesthesiologist will need to prescribe the right type and dose of anesthesia. If the patient needs medications or interventions prior to the procedure, the CA orders or performs them. During the procedure, the CA administers the prescribed anesthesia under direct supervision and closely monitors patient vital signs. Following the procedure, the CA manages the care the patient receives until they\'re out of recovery.
