Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Senior Vet(s), the successful candidate will join a team of 4 other
veterinarians and 20 other clinic staff at the WHS veterinary clinic. The WHS is comprised of
approximately 182 employees and many more volunteers who are dedicated to protecting animals
from suffering and promoting their welfare and dignity. The successful applicant needs to be an
enthusiastic team member who will work towards the WHS vision and practice exemplary
medicine.

Qualifications:
1. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree is required.
2. Currently licensed to practice veterinary medicine with the Manitoba Veterinary
Medical Association or eligible for licensing.
3. At least one year of surgical experience is an asset but not a requirement.
4. Enjoys a high volume, fast paced environment.
5. Excels at working as part of a team.
6. Prior shelter experience is an asset but not a requirement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs high volume spay/neuter surgeries.
2. Performs various other soft tissue surgeries.
3. Performs dental procedures including extractions.
4. Performs medical examination of ill animals and determines treatment.
5. Records medical notes and treatment instructions in computer system.
6. Performs examination and documentation of any seized animals in preparation of
possible court case.
7. Supervises and mentors associate veterinarians, students and volunteers learning the
art of Veterinary Medicine.
8. Conducts or supervises the humane euthanasia of animals
