Position Description





Clinical Research Project Coordinator (Scientific) Project Description: CALIPER (Canadian Laboratory Initiative on Pediatric Reference Intervals) is a nation-wide initiative aimed at developing a comprehensive database of healthy reference intervals, also known as reference values or normal ranges, for blood tests in children. The CALIPER project is designed to fill existing gaps in pediatric reference intervals for medical laboratory tests used to assess children with medical concerns. Summary of Objectives and Purpose of Job: The CALIPER program is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Research Project Coordinator (CRPC) to join their team! The CRPC will be working closely with the Program Head and the CALIPER research program members. The CRPC\xe2\x80\x99s primary focus will be to coordinate scientific activities of the CALIPER program and various subprojects, which will include statistical analysis, data interpretation and presentation, preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, and other scientific documents, as well as various laboratory tasks. This position will initially be open for a one-year contract, which will be eligible for renewal up to five years.
Here\'s What You\'ll Get To Do:
  • Read and have detailed knowledge of protocol and study procedures
  • Perform data analysis, interpretation, and presentation
  • Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, and other scientific documents
  • Conduct laboratory activities (e.g. centrifuging, aliquoting, specimen analysis, instrument maintenance)
  • Maintain and monitor sample storage and freezer organization
  • Select/pull/prepare/ship samples for analysis
  • Develop, maintain, update, and ensure adherence to essential study documents (e.g. protocols, SOPs)
  • Prepare, review, and submit REB submissions (e.g. new applications, amendments)
  • Liaise and communicate with external collaborators and industry contacts
  • Assist with REDCap database design and maintenance (e.g. data entry, quality checks)
  • Assist with data updates and testing of the CALIPER online database and mobile app
  • Assist with study promotion, outreach, and recruitment (as needed)
  • Assist with training CALIPER staff and students on scientific aspects of program (as needed)

Here\'s What You\'ll Need:
  • Graduate degree in health sciences, data sciences, statistics, or related areas; MSc or equivalent required
  • Statistical and laboratory experience in the context of clinical research required
  • Experience with R and R studio is highly desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Enthusiasm and initiative
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team setting
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development
  • Commitment to operate within the boundaries of the Hospital for Sick Children policies and procedures
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract (1 year; eligible for renewal)
