Your opportunity

Dillon\xe2\x80\x99s Environmental Sciences group is looking for an Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Professional Planner to lead our team of climate change resilience professionals in the delivery of climate change vulnerability assessments, climate risk management plans and climate change strategy development.


At Dillon, we operate as one team. Although this position is ideally situated at our Ontario (Toronto, Guelph, Kitchener, Chatham, Windsor, Hamilton, London, Oakville, Ottawa) or Winnipeg offices; alternate geographies will be considered for the right candidate. What your day could look like
Team Leadership Activities

  • Develop and implement an annual plan for your team to aid in the sustainable success and successful growth of the team.
  • Coordinate and execute workflow planning to contribute to group resource planning.
  • Manage capacity of operating team to meet business needs, including the addition of

capacity hires into the team and skill development.
  • Coordinate with advisers and support the career development of all team members.



Technical Activities
  • Support our clients in achieving their sustainability goals through collaboration.
  • Manage and assist other project managers on technical projects related to; climate change risk and vulnerability assessments, adaptation plans including climate data analysis, infrastructure condition assessment, stakeholder engagement, technical report writing, and contributions to development of climate change capacity-building training content for client groups.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including climatologists, meteorologists, engineers, planners, scientists, and technical support staff.
  • Contribute to business development activities including client needs, research, preparation of project proposals, and presentations.



Learning and Development
  • Develop and implement an annual plan for your team to aid in the sustainable success and successful growth of the team.
  • Coordinate and execute workflow planning to contribute to group resource planning.
  • Actively participate in the career development of peers and junior staff including providing technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.

Contributions to Dillon\'s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees. Qualifications:
What you will need to succeed
  • A degree in engineering, environmental science, or related and equivalent education/training.
  • Sustained success and experience in the delivery of climate change vulnerability assessments, climate risk management plans and climate change strategy development.
  • Openness and willingness to learn new skills and a personal commitment to continuous development.
  • Ability to view problems/projects from a systems thinking perspective \xe2\x80\x93 from high level to a detailed approach.
Experience:
  • Demonstrated success in project management and client relationship skills.
  • Proven success in team management and leadership of a team for sustainable success.
  • Proven ability to work with clients in understanding their needs and developing a unique approach to supporting them achieve their goals.
  • Knowledge of global climate models and climate change data analysis.
  • Familiarity with principles of statistical analyses, basic risk and climate resilience assessment approaches (any of ISO 31000, PIEVC, Infrastructure Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Climate Lens Resilience Assessment Guidance, etc.).
  • Understanding of engineering design, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Strong ability to identify, review and synthesize key findings in scientific and engineering literature, reports, other relevant publications to client audiences and project teams.
  • Familiarity with project coordination and project management for engineering projects considered an asset.
