POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Program Lead - Asset Management, with technical direction and guidance of the Climate Adaptation Coordinator assists in the renewal and update of City of Thunder Bay's Climate Adaptation Strategy.





MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:



Supports research, development, and communication for the renewal of the City of Thunder Bay Climate Adaptation Strategy. Assists with workshops, community and stakeholder engagement events by preparing documents, coordinating logistics, and recording meeting minutes Inputs participant data and organizes information collected during meetings. Responds to inquiries from participants, providing initial information and refers inquiries to appropriate staff within the department as required. Supports the creation of communication materials for climate adaptation initiatives. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Education/Experience:



Secondary school diploma and post-secondary courses in marketing, sociology, environmental studies, risk management, geography, or related discipline Minimum of three months experience related to community sustainability projects and initiatives

Skills/Abilities:



Ability to communicate respectfully, effectively and concisely orally, in writing, and through visual information Demonstrated organizational and analytical abilities Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers, and customers Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Must be at a basic skill level in keyboarding, word processing, and spreadsheet software Must be competent within the meaning of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act

Assets:



Experience with stakeholder engagement or event planning.
