Position Summary:



The

Client Community Liaison

plays a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly men and families, by connecting them to essential community resources. Working within a shelter environment, this position focuses on advocacy, outreach, transitional support, and resource navigation to assist clients in achieving stability and long-term well-being.

The Officer facilitates access to housing, social assistance (Ontario Works), counseling services, addiction and detox programs, and other community supports. They also lead community presentations and activities, organize events, and advocate for systemic changes on behalf of homeless and marginalized populations.

Key Responsibilities:



Client Support & Resource Navigation:



Provide one-on-one support to clients in identifying their needs and navigating community services. Assist with completing and submitting applications for housing, Ontario Works, identification, detox and treatment programs, and other social services. Develop individualized transitional support plans in collaboration with clients. Offer follow-up and check-ins to ensure continuity of care.

Community Engagement & Advocacy:



Advocate on issues affecting homeless individuals, men, and vulnerable families within the broader community and service networks. Build and maintain partnerships with housing providers, government agencies, health services, and community organizations. Represent the shelter at community forums, roundtables, and stakeholder meetings.

Program Development & Facilitation:



Plan, coordinate, and lead workshops, group sessions, and community presentations on topics such as housing access, mental health, employment readiness, and harm reduction. Organize and participate in community events that promote awareness, inclusion, and support for the shelter's clientele.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:



Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records and case notes in accordance with privacy and confidentiality policies. Prepare regular reports on client outcomes, program participation, and community engagement activities. Track referrals, services provided, and follow-up outcomes.

Qualifications:



New graduates in areas of Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, or a related field. Knowledge of homelessness, poverty, mental health, addictions, and trauma-informed care. Strong understanding of local resources, including Ontario Works, housing systems, health services, and community programs. Demonstrated experience with client advocacy and empowerment-based approaches. Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and client data management systems. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for events.
