Client Account Manager, Group Insurance

Job Description


We are seeking a Client Account Manager to join our team in Cambridge (or the surrounding areas). This position is a hybrid between work from home and purposeful in office work.

The Client Account Manager is responsible for managing a specified group of clients, independently, as well as in alignment with the overseeing Account Executive where applicable. There are no sales targets associated with this position.

The Client Account Manager will:

  • Provide regular updates of plan performance (quarterly updates)
    • Conduct the analysis
    • Prepare the deliverables
    • Help client interpret the results
  • Prepare and deliver annual renewals
    • Conduct the analysis
    • Negotiate the best price
    • Prepare the deliverable
    • Help client interpret results
  • Be the first point of contact for ongoing client needs
  • Work collaboratively with associates where applicable
  • Define service standards with clients and manage account lifecycle according to set service agreement/commitment. Ensure service standards are met and all deliverables are complete and client focused
  • Communicate regularly and work collaboratively with all other members of the IS team for necessary support in meeting client demands
  • Ensure that plan design strategies are appropriate based on the plan sponsor\xe2\x80\x99s needs and goals via regular reviews of the utilization among the various benefit levels
  • Ensure that the funding arrangement/pricing model is appropriate via regular reviews of the performance of the financial component of the program,
  • Ensure the insurance provider is administering and underwriting the program appropriately and that service standards are met.
  • Support plan sponsors in their ongoing administrative needs
  • Where necessary, provide support to insurance carrier contacts in working with clients to collect deficits, outstanding premiums or claim funding adjustments that are overdue
  • Facilitate, follow-up, resolve and communicate any escalated service issues
  • Look for opportunities to implement new products
  • Project leader for implementations on plan design changes, amendments and pricing \xe2\x80\x93 including flex launches and re-enrolments. Act as liaison, working with underwriting/carrier contacts (and associate brokers as necessary)
  • General expectation to provide internal support, leadership, coaching and guidance to all other IS Team Members, through your interactions and handling of client relationships and situations
  • Take part in transitioning new business acquisitions to the ongoing management service model
  • Work with Client Manager to ensure that the proper internal resources are assigned and available to assist in the execution of tasks within the required timeframes,
  • Build and manage effective relationships with internal staff and external business partners
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationship with insurance carrier staff
  • Maintain a high degree of technical and industry expertise; by participating in industry conferences, seminars, etc.

To be successful as an Client Account Manager with People Corporation, you will need:

  • Solid industry knowledge: good balance of underwriting, carrier rules, usual client needs, customer service, various funding arrangements, usual plan design options available in the marketplace + ability to use all of these skills to effectively manage each client\xe2\x80\x99s benefits program and be able to identify plausible solutions to specific needs
  • Ability to identify problems before the occur / identify risks and bring solutions to offset them
  • Able to speak to groups during employee info sessions
  • LLQP is an asset but not required
  • Solid people skills
  • Able to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong-willed / ambitious
