A retail store clerk's job involves assisting customers with purchases and inquiries, operating the cash register, maintaining the store's appearance, and managing inventory by stocking shelves and organizing merchandise. They provide exceptional customer service, answer product questions, process transactions, and ensure the store environment is clean, organized, and well-stocked to provide a positive shopping experience.
Core Responsibilities
Customer Service:
Greet customers warmly and assist them with locating products or answering questions about merchandise.
Provide product information and recommend items to enhance the customer's shopping experience.
Sales & Transactions:
Operate the cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system to process payments.
Handle, process, and manage lotto, cash, and credit card transactions accurately.
Sell age-restricted products
Manage receipts and provide correct change to customers.
Store Operations & Maintenance:
Stock shelves with new products and ensure they are priced and displayed correctly.
Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, including product displays and general tidiness.
Assist with inventory management, monitoring stock levels, and reporting shortages to the manager.
Teamwork & Knowledge:
Collaborate with other staff members to support daily store operations and achieve sales goals.
Maintain knowledge of current promotions, company policies, and security practices.
The ideal candidate will have open availability, including evening's & weekends, with the ability to work grave yard shifts when required.
