This position is located in the Cancer Care Program in Gander. The Clerk I performs a variety of clerical tasks which include: answers and responds to telephone inquiries; acts as a receptionist; receives, sorts and distributes mail; sorts and files correspondence; assists with coordinating patient appointments; other related duties as required.
Job Demands

Regularly lifts objects up to 10 lbs., the majority of which are less than 5 lbs., but occasionally can weigh up to 30 - 50 lbs. requiring assistance. May sometimes be required to use a step ladder when retrieving objects overhead.
Constantly lifts, reaches, bends, and walks when retrieving and storing files.
Considerable amount of time may be spent keying information into a computer requiring visual and auditory concentration.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Successful completion of an approved/recognized medical terminology course is required.
A Windows skills test score of 70% is required. A Windows skills test may be administered by the Department of Human Resources. Testing must be completed before closing of the job competition.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
*Proof of current medical terminology is required. To be considered current, the medical terminology course must have been completed within the last five years, unless it has been used in recent positions. This must be demonstrated on the application form.
**If medical terminology isn\'t current, a medical terminology test may be administered by the Human Resources Client Services Department. Testing must be completed before closing of the job competition.
