About the Opportunity

Under the direction and supervision of the Health Services Manager or delegate, the Clerk B contributes to the effective operation of a nursing unit by acting as a central communication person for the unit, performs reception and clerical duties, following hospital policies and regulations.

About You

  • Education required: A high school diploma or equivalent is required plus one year related experience or a graduate of a recognized business/clerical program.
  • Experience: Prior experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in an ICU or critical care unit, is highly desired. Candidates should have a solid understanding of medical terminology and be familiar with basic medical procedures.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in using computer software such as Microsoft Office is required.
  • Communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare providers is essential. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to multi-task, and work well under pressure.
  • Attention to detail: The ability to pay close attention to detail is critical in an ICU setting. Candidates should be able to accurately input and maintain patient data, and ensure all paperwork is filed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Organization skills: Strong organizational skills are necessary to keep the unit running smoothly. Candidates should be able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and be able to adapt to changing situations.
  • Confidentiality: As a unit clerk in an ICU, candidates will be required to handle confidential patient information. Therefore, the ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to NSH policy is essential.
  • Availability: ICU operations run 24/7, so candidates must have the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
  • Physical requirements: Candidates must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform other physical tasks as necessary.
  • Training: The ability to complete training programs and continuing education courses as required by the hospital is necessary to maintain the skills necessary to perform the job duties.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent-Part time, (90% FTE), 63 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 - $21.91 Hourly
