The Job - Cleaner / Packer- Contents Technician



At On Side, Cleaner Packers, also known as Contents Technicians show up every day with a can-do attitude and desire to help. This team does vital work helping clients save precious possessions and memories with empathy, compassion, and hard work.

When disaster strikes, Contents Technician teams are deployed to restore order out of chaos and clean up the aftermath. Working on site and in the On Side warehouse means no day or disaster is ever the same.

Contents Technicians are responsible for:



Working with customers to restore personal and commercial items to pre-disaster state Packing and cataloging contents from disaster affected areas and creating inventory lists Using Encircle Restoration Software Pre and post construction cleaning Cleaning contents and structures Cleaning fabrics and textiles Moving boxes and furniture and various items

What you bring:



Cleaning experience An optimistic outlook and a real desire to help Exceptional organizational skills and paying attention to detail Physically fit (ability to lift, carry and pack boxes, move furniture and appliances) and willingness to follow all company safety requirements Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces Willingness to wear the PPE provided for the job, including being clean shaven (if applicable) for wearing full face masks Tech savviness (we are 80% paperless and use technology to record information) Valid driver's licence & clean drivers abstract (occasionally driving large fleet vehicles) Able to successfully satisfy On Side's criminal record check requirements Ability to communicate in English both spoken and written

Past industry experience that can translate into success in this job:



Hotel, hotel housekeeper, tourism, hospitality, dry cleaning, laundry services, restaurant, restaurant manager, supervisor, server, customer service, waitress, waiter, bartender, bartending, banquet, concierge, travel, tour guide, sales, industrial or commercial cleaner, mover, packer.

Other stuff that'll help you be successful:



You genuinely enjoy working with people in a team environment Ability to communicate effectively in English both written and verbal Previous experience in a warehouse and/or clients' homes

Of Note



Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Tell us about your cleaning/packing/moving experience and why you would be the best person for this job. Are you physically fit? Can you lift 35lbs and walk upstairs if required? Are you organized and can clearly list contents that you have packed? Are you observant and can clearly document client belongings for insurance purposes? Restoration work can be dirty. Flooded basements and sewer backups are the norm. Are you able and willing to work in these conditions? Are you comfortable driving a cube van/fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets? If you are not experienced, are you willing to learn? Please explain: Are you fluent reading / writing/ speaking English? If no, please rank your skills out of 10 (1 is basic, 10 is fluent) Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule? This is additional to scheduled day time hours Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Do you have computer and/or tablet/iPad experience? Are you comfortable navigating and using applications for photos and recording information while on site?
Experience:

Packing (contents in a home): 1 year (preferred) Residential Cleaning: 1 year (preferred) Construction: 1 year (preferred) Demolition: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Canadian Driving Licence (required)
