Eastern Counties Regional Library (ECRL) is looking for someone who takes pride in making the office environment clean and pleasant, to work part-time (20 hours bi-weekly) at our Regional Office in Mulgrave. This position is a 7-month term ending March 27, 2026.
The regularly scheduled hours of work for this position are Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 am-3:30pm.
Duties to include (but not limited to):
Provides regular cleaning (e.g., cleans and disinfects kitchen and break area regularly, periodic cleaning of shared refrigerator, kitchen cupboards, main office area, storage areas, etc)
Disinfects, descales, and cleans appliances (e.g., humidifiers, air purifiers, water coolers, vacuum cleaners, etc)
Regularly cleans heat pump filters as per the manufacturer's instructions
Maintains a neat and orderly workspace and contributes to Regional Office organization efforts (e.g., stores supplies and other materials in designated location, keeps storage areas orderly, etc)
Reports janitorial and maintenance needs and/or concerns to Director, Communications & Engagement.
Immediately reports Occupational Health and Safety concerns, issues, and/or incidents to the Director, Communications and Engagement, and/or the OHS Representative.
Notable Physical and Mental Demands
Must be able to spend long periods of time standing
Must be able to lift and handle cleaning tools, buckets, mops, vacuums and etc.
A significant amount of mobility, strength, flexibility, and coordination is needed to perform duties.
Frequently required to walk, bend, push, reach, turn, and lift
Must be able to safely climb a ladder when required (e.g., to remove and replace heat pump filters)
Must be able to learn, remember, and demonstrate understanding of new instruction and procedures

Excellent organizational skills, time management and strong attention to detail
The ability to find, understand, and use information about commercial cleaning standards, disinfection and disease prevention
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Integrity and personal accountability - reports reliably, exercises sound judgement, and maintains a strict level of privacy and confidentiality
Service orientation - A professional and positive attitude and conduct in all interactions and understands their work as important to the well-being of others
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience and Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge and experience of commercial cleaning and/or facility maintenance a strong asset
A successful Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
