Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team. The cleaner will maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for children, staff, and visitors. The Cleaner plays a vital role in ensuring the daycare center meets health and safety standards, including infection control protocols. This role requires a strong commitment to quality and customer service, as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This is a part time permanent position typically from 1pm - 4pm.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitization

Clean and disinfect washrooms, and common areas daily. (see specific task list attached) Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all floors and surfaces. Clean and sanitize play equipment, and high-touch surfaces per daycare policies. Empty garbage bins and dispose of waste in accordance with municipal regulations. Collect soiled laundry from rooms, launder, fold, return items to rooms and store linens, blankets, and cleaning cloths as required.

Health & Safety Compliance

Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols, including COVID-19 guidelines if applicable. Ensure all cleaning supplies and chemicals are used safely and stored properly. Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or supply shortages to the Director or Program Supervisor. Comply with Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Next to Mom Inc.'s policies.

Other Duties

Assist in setting up and cleaning after daycare activities or meals if needed. Work collaboratively with daycare staff to maintain a welcoming and safe environment. Perform other related cleaning tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Previous experience in professional cleaning, janitorial, or housekeeping roles preferred. Knowledge of safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals. Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness. Physically able to lift to 25 lbs, bend, stretch, and perform repetitive movements. Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) required before employment. Up-to-date immunization record, (as per Ontario childcare regulations). Up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification

Work Conditions

Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and childcare-related messes / pathogens.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.60-$21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 25 per week
