Ummah Society is seeking a reliable and dedicated Substitute Facility Cleaner to provide coverage across all departments, including the Masjid and School, as needed. This on-call/substitute role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for worshippers, students, staff, and community members during staff absences, peak periods, or special events. The successful candidate will demonstrate respect for Islamic values, adaptability, and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness across multiple facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
The Substitute Facility Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards across all Ummah Society buildings, including the Masjid, School, offices, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Clean, sanitize, and maintain prayer halls, classrooms, offices, corridors, entrances, and common areas.
Clean and disinfect restrooms and ablution (wudu) areas; restock soap, paper towels, and tissue supplies.
Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust floors, furniture, and fixtures throughout all buildings.
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as desks, chairs, door handles, switches, and railings.
Maintain cleanliness of shoe racks, storage areas, and gathering spaces.
Empty garbage and recycling bins and follow proper waste disposal procedures.
Assist with setup and cleanup for Jummah prayers, Ramadan programs, school activities, meetings, and community events.
Follow infection control procedures to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for students, staff, worshippers, and visitors.
Safely handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with WHMIS and organizational policies.
Identify and report safety hazards, damages, or maintenance needs to management promptly.
Work independently, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing schedules and coverage needs across departments.
Qualifications
Previous experience in facility cleaning; experience in religious or educational settings is an asset.
WHMIS Certification (required).
Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and repetitive tasks.
Strong attention to detail and accountability for cleanliness standards.
Ability to work independently and follow verbal and written instructions.
Respect for Islamic values and the sanctity of religious and learning spaces.
Good communication skills.
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and during special events.
Own transportation preferred due to variable and on-call work hours.
