Position Summary



Reporting to the

Property Manager

, the

Cleaner

is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of both the interior and exterior areas of assigned residential buildings. This role plays an essential part in ensuring that tenants, visitors, and staff experience a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities1. Cleaning



Sweep, mop, and buff floors in common areas. Clean windows, doors, stairwells, elevators, and public washrooms. Clean administrative offices (excluding kitchen areas). Remove garbage and recycling for collection; return bins after pickup. Maintain laundry rooms and common spaces. Perform minor exterior cleaning and seasonal tasks (e.g., sweeping, shoveling). Carry out other cleaning duties as assigned.

2. Inventory & Safety



Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and notify staff when orders are required. Follow all

MSDS/WHMIS

safety procedures.

3. Building Support



Report maintenance issues or emergencies to maintenance staff. Allow emergency personnel (fire, police, ambulance) access to the building when necessary. Keep janitorial rooms organized, clean, and locked at all times.

Detailed Cleaning Areas



Entrance and Lobby:



Sweep, wash, and vacuum floors; clean glass and partitions; empty waste containers.

Elevators:



Clean interior/exterior doors, control panels, and floors; remove smudges and stains.

Laundry Room:



Clean floors and surfaces, wipe machines, and empty waste containers.

Public Washrooms:



Clean and disinfect all fixtures, floors, mirrors, partitions, and dispensers. Replenish toilet paper and paper towels.

Corridors, Stairs, and Landings:



Sweep, mop, and disinfect as needed.

Exterior Grounds:



Pick up litter and maintain building surroundings.

Offices:



Sweep, mop, dust furniture, and empty waste containers.

Qualifications



Experience working as a cleaner or custodian in residential or commercial settings (preferred). Experience working with marginalized or vulnerable communities an asset. Reliable and punctual, with consistent attention to detail. Ability to manage cleaning supplies and follow safety protocols. Ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism and calmness. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during the workday. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead as part of cleaning duties. Ability to lift and carry items up to approximately

25 kg (55 lbs)

such as garbage bags, cleaning equipment, and supplies. Comfort using basic cleaning equipment (mops, vacuums, buffers, etc.). Tolerance for occasional exposure to cleaning agents (with provided PPE). Ability to perform duties in varying weather conditions when working outdoors.
