Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide the University of Regina with Audio/Video (AV) technical support, installation of technology in classrooms, and to provide technical support for in-person and remote classes and events.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for the installation and repair of AV equipment in classrooms, boardrooms and auditoriums;
  • Deliver training on audio-visual equipment, systems and software such as Zoom to stakeholders, faculty, staff, students, and visitors;
  • Coordinate special projects and events by, but not limited to, meeting with clients to discuss project expectations/needs and provide budget estimate for resources required, produce electronic invoices, etc;
  • Technical support of Zoom Meetings, Webinars and Events including training of clients, scheduling Zoom sessions and monitoring the Zoom Dashboard, as required;
  • Supervise, train, and guide the work of student assistants, as appropriate;
  • Participate in the hiring of student assistants, as appropriate, to support operation of presentation technology during conferences, performances, meetings and special events.
  • Provide on-call support to assistants during events;
  • Maintain an inventory of all assets of CTES and to dispose of assets through Supply Management Services salvage processes;
  • Organize storage of chemicals according to approved guidelines and maintain material safety data sheets for all chemicals used in CTES; and,
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Position Requirements:
  • Grade 12 supplemented by the successful completion of a two-year electronics technology course and/or a communications technology diploma, combined with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience preferably within a university environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Requires technical training in control, switching, display and audio systems;
  • Certification in assembling, programming and repairing of Extron electronic systems will be required;
  • Must possess Fall Protection and Aerial Lift and Scissor Lift Certification, or be willing to obtain this certification;
  • Previous experience in front-line helpdesk or technical support work is an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of AV equipment, specifically in working with remote communications platforms like Zoom, Avid video editing and other presentation technologies;
  • Knowledge and skill in wiring and installation codes;
  • Ability to provide advanced technical advice and guidance related to their job-specific area of knowledge;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required;
  • Ability to setup, troubleshoot and repair audio visual equipment, utilizing multi-meters, waveform monitors, cable analyzers, signal analyzers, and other related equipment;
  • Knowledge and skill in soldering;
  • Knowledge and skill in terminating a variety of twisted pair, signal and coaxial cables; and,
  • WHMIS training is required, along with the knowledge and ability to maintain material safety data sheets.


Physical Demands Pay Grade CUPE Phase 5 Salary Range $57,066.88 - $77,044.24 Annually Status Permanent Work Hours
