Aevitas is currently seeking a Class 3 Driver working out of our Edmonton, Alberta location. This position involves the operation of a commercial motor vehicle and the handling and transport of hazardous waste in an environmentally responsible manner.
This position does not involve any travel across the Canadian/United States border.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Identify, package, label hazardous and non-hazardous materials for transport
Accurately complete manifests, bills of lading and associated paperwork
Ensure loads are secure
Adhere to vehicle weight limits and ensure proper utilization of Aevitas equipment
Ensure proper placarding of vehicles
Accurately complete and maintain daily logs, daily vehicle inspections, trip reports, expense reports and other reports as required
Comply with legal requirements and internal company policies and procedures
Ensure equipment is mechanically sound and in good working order at all times
Maintain communication with management, sales and dispatch
Follow and comply with all environmental health and safety procedures and regulations
Assist in waste tracking; assign tracking and bulking numbers as required
Packing chemicals based on compatibility at a variety of customer sites; prepare waste for pick up in correct packaging
Loads and unloads trucks as required
Completes paperwork daily, weekly, and monthly as required
Maintains a courteous and professional attitude towards customers and other employees
Identifying waste profiles
Responsible maintaining the lab pack room
Responsible for inventory and ensuring waste is ready to leave the lab pack a proper timely manner; no waste is to be stored in the lab pack room for more than three (3) months
Maintain a courteous and professional attitude towards customers and other employees
Additional duties as assigned
Education and Experience
High School Graduate or Grade 12 equivalent
Understanding of Chemistry
Experience in the hazardous waste management industry an asset
Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies
Minimum three (3) years experience operating a commercial motor vehicle
Hazardous waste experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and Other Requirements
Hold a valid Class 3 Alberta Driver license
Must be at least twenty-five (25) years of age
Legally able to work in Canada
Successfully complete a criminal records background check
Must be willing to participate in a drug and alcohol monitoring program
Work Environment
Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
Required to exert physical effort in handling objects greater than fifty (50) pounds frequently.
Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting.
Work outdoors and/or driving a video/GPS monitored vehicle.
Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise and weather extremes
