Job description
Western Aerial utilizes heavy (GVWR ~ 63,500 Kg) tractor-trailer combinations. Hauling, offroad, granulated fertilizer from a mill or railyard loading site to a worksite off-highway to support helicopter operations. Once employment has commenced, driver will be paid daily rate (plus per diem and accommodation pay) until the projects are complete, regardless of whether or not any work takes place for that day.
Driving the Western Aerial fertilizer hauling trucks is a demanding job which requires constant, focused attention and experience in both highway and forestry road conditions. Western Aerial Heavy Haul Truck Drivers ("Truck Drivers") will encounter challenging road conditions including: shale, mud, ice, snow, high grade and off-camber situations which require advanced driving skills and other precautions including tire chain fitment and load splitting.
Since most of Western Aerial's fertilizer trailers are of the "Super B" style, drivers must be experienced in all aspects of their operation.
Long hauling, bush/project work. Work includes, weekends and holidays. Will be away from home and on projects until complete - approx. 4 months
QUALIFICATIONS
Truck Drivers must possess a valid Canadian Class 1 driver's licence as required by the Motor Vehicle Branch in BC. Documented experience working with Super-B trailers and hauling off-road (such as forestry roads or oil service roads) is required. A recent driver's abstract, clear of serious infractions must also be provided. These documents must be provided to Western Aerial prior to the commencement of work. All Truck Drivers must be able to show knowledge and understanding of Western Aerial's Safe Driving Practices and Operating Procedures, as detailed in this section.
Truck Drivers must have an understanding of the WCB Occupational Health and Safety Regulations applicable to their work and must also possess an understanding of the Motor Vehicle Act & Regulations, Commercial Transport Act & Regulations and the Motor Carrier Act.
Western Aerial recommends all Truck Drivers obtain a valid First Aid Ticket, Level 1 with the Transportation Endorsement.
It is imperative that all Truck Drivers have a clear understanding of the English language to ensure safety to all. English is the language used on all Western Aerial projects.
All Truck Drivers should be familiar with the information published by ICBC, Commercial Vehicle Service: Booklets #1 to 6:

Drivers should also be knowledgeable of local Traffic Control Bylaws and commercial truck parking restrictions.
E-log experience an asset.
Mountain/Logging road hauling experience an asset.
Must be fluent in English, verbal and written.
Pay: Day rate $400, Per diem $50/day, $30/day sleeper birth bonus (or travel trailer) paid 7 days/ week for whole term of employment.
