AFD Petroleum is looking for a driving instructor to develop effective training programs for new and existing drivers!

You are a natural teacher who loves to lead, coach, and motivate others. You are a MELT Driving Instructor approved by Alberta Transportation. You have developed effective training programs for new and current Class 1 and 3 drivers.

The Challenge:

This position is NOT just for anyone.

We are looking for a new member of the transportation team who is directly responsible for the development for our driver apprenticeship training and instructor program. You will be responsible to run and update the apprenticeship training program once it is complete. You will instruct new M.E.L.T Program graduates through the apprenticeship program. You will instruct sessions on our Mobile Training Unit and driving simulator.

Who you are working with:

Primarily you work alongside the Transportation and Logistics Manager. You will interact with new Class 1 MELT program and Class 3 graduates, and current AFD Drivers.

What you will do day-to-day:

• Develop, update and provide continual improvement for training and assessment programs
• Work with operations to ensure consistent training process for all trainees
• Ability to adhere to all corporate policies and act as an advocate concerning these policies
• Work with recruiting to support the recruitment process through providing industry and equipment knowledge, engaging candidates directly and assisting in planned industry events
• Conduct and document required classroom and behind-the-wheel training for drivers and re-training as needed
• Conduct on-the-road evaluations
• Instruct classroom material and put trainees through various simulator programming on Mobile Training Unit (training provided)
• Deliver In-yards and on-road lessons to prepare trainees
• Be accessible to drivers with any questions or concerns they may have with Training & Development as well as help to develop skills as a Commercial driver

• Ability to be flexible in adjusting to changing work priorities

• Other related duties as required or assigned

What you need to succeed:

• Class 1 MELT and 3 Certified Driving Instructor
• Clean 5-year commercial drivers abstract
• Simulator training experience is an asset
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Experience:

• 2+ Years as Class 1 MELT and 3 Instructor
