As Claims Technician - Total and Permanent Disability, you will help manage disability claims and process salary insurance benefits.

You will play a critical role in disability claim assessment. You will be responsible for claims that are deemed to be “total and permanent” according to our criteria, namely claims for which the prognosis of a return to work before the maximum duration of coverage is unlikely. You will contact insureds who are off work and regularly prepare updates on their medical condition. You must be able to guide them through the complex process of applying for various government benefits (for example, CPP and QPP). You will also have to make calculations and explain those calculations when adjusting benefits if approved by one of those organizations. Your work will be crucial to claims management, as insureds will be in contact with you for several years to come. This position involves working on a team, so you must be highly autonomous and able to assess and prioritize your tasks.
General Information on the Position
Main responsibilities

• 
  Process claims in accordance with the contractual clauses of the insurance policy. Escalate more complex claims to another processing level, if applicable
• 
  Establish the benefit amount, determine the payable period (for PTD: integration), proceed with payment and carry out the necessary follow-up (for example, close the file or continue making payments)
• 
  Assist insureds with the CPP or QPP application process
• 
  Calculate and be able to explain deductions and negotiate reimbursements if necessary
• 
  Speak with and write to partners, professionals and clients to obtain and provide information, justifications and interpretations
• 
  Communicate with claims management offices across the country.

  Workplace : Position located in Lévis, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver or Toronto, depending on the applicant selected. The work arrangement for the position is hybrid work or remote based on candidate location #LI-Hybrid or #LI-Remote

Qualifications

• 
  College diploma in a related field
• 
  A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
