Job Overview


Working under minimal supervision, the Executive Claims Technical Specialist- Bodily Injury contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims experience by analyzing business data and processes to support design and/or modification of operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in claims.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provides subject matter expertise, direction, leadership, strategic support, and training with respect to bodily injury claims at a national executive level
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of developments in the insurance industry and proactively identify opportunities to share knowledge throughout claims operations to ensure ongoing best practices and outcomes in investigating and resolving claims.
  • Identify, recommend, and lead implementation of policy, process, and system changes to support claims engagement, enable work, and drive consistency in exceptional claims outcomes for members
  • Monitor and provide regular reporting on both internal and external trends for casualty claims at a regional and national level
  • Lead development of job aids and training materials to facilitate claims onboarding and development
  • Review and analyze national claims quality assurance results and support action planning and continuous improvement with the regional casualty leadership teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Minimum of 10 years property and casualty industry experience with a minimum of 5 years adjusting bodily injury and casualty claims, including auto and general liability
  • Expert knowledge of coverage wordings, policy interpretation, case law, legislation, and insurance regulations with respect to casualty claims
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information and data, identify trends, and to select and implement best solutions in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present information in a convincing and accurate manner
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Driven and goal-oriented, motivated by both individual and team targets
  • Excellent service skills based upon a foundation of empathy and track record of teamwork and collaboration
  • Receptive to coaching and strives for constant self-improvement
  • Experience developing and delivering formalized training for continuous improvement preferred
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma and/or insurance industry professional designation preferred
  • Fluency in French (spoken and written) considered an asset
