Job Description

Job Purpose



The Claims Specialist is responsible for supporting the grant writing process by providing detailed information to be included in grant applications. The Claims Specialist obtains the necessary information from clients and maintains contact in order to verify all details. Once the application is complete, the Claims Specialist supports the process by ensuring all timelines are met and follows through to ensure the grant is paid.

Duties and Responsibilities



People, Policies & Practices



Review, evaluate, and process grant applications Obtain information from clients to ensure all components of the grant application are satisfied Supports the grant application process by drafting documents with the requisite information Supports the claims manager in the submission of client claims in accordance with the grant's requirements

Interpersonal Skills & Contacts



? Communicates with clients to obtain detailed information necessary to complete grant applications

? Supports senior managers in the grant writing process

? Supports the clients, writers, accounts managers & claims team in the claims management process

Problem Solving & Judgment



? Apply knowledge of grant applications to gather the required information from clients

? Systematically and thoroughly gather data to submit claims to the grant provider

?Take initiative and use sound judgment to determine and implement the best solution when faced with problematic situations

Information Resources



? Recognize and review claims requiring additional information

? Recognize and review grant applications requiring additional information

? Maintain employee and customer confidence by protecting confidential information

? Prepare and maintain records, reports, and logs relating to claims and grants

Qualifications



Education



? Post-secondary degree or diploma in agriculture or a related field

Knowledge & Experience



? Strong understanding of agriculture and farming practices

? 2 years' experience in the industry

? Experience with grant applications is an asset

? Experience with grant claims is an asset

? Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook

Working Conditions



? Office environment

? May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties

? Incumbent may be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones and office machines

Physical Requirements



? Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time

? Manual and physical dexterity needed to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, including but not limited to pens, pencils, computer keyboard, and mouse

? Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and by email

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
