About the role




We’re looking for Accident Benefits Claims Representatives to join our growing team! As an Accident Benefits Claims Representative, you will be responsible for overseeing a pending of Accident Benefits files with either basic policy limits or moderate to complex files depending on the skills you bring. The successful candidates will have experience in handling claims and possess a strong understanding of current and past legislations and regulations. In these roles you will also be responsible for mentoring and coaching throughout the COE in support of staff development. The members of this team must be detail oriented, have exhibited strong communication skills along with strong problem solving and negotiation abilities. If you enjoy collaboration and have a keen focus providing customer service excellence, this role may be for you. We offer a hybrid working environment with support and training. Locations can be in either Ottawa, Sudbury, Ajax, Mississauga, Toronto and London offices. What you’ll do here:

  • Handle a pending of Accident Benefit files while receiving regular intake of moderate to complex basic claims
  • Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements which are fair and equitable
  • Demonstrate exposure recognition through proactive file handling with strong analysis
  • Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with the customer, claimants, lawyers and rehabilitation experts and report findings
  • Instruct Counsel on files in dispute
  • Conduct investigations and identify additional information such as an independent medical examination, customer medical or employment history required to clarify and/or justify a claim
  • Complete regular reporting as required and liaising with Technical Services to ensure appropriate action and reserving is in place where appropriate
  • Collaboration and networking with different business units
  • Participate in Large Loss Meetings on own files where appropriate
  • Complete other duties as assigned as deemed reasonable to assist the Business





Qualifications




What you bring to the table: We are looking to connect with Intermediate to Senior Accident Benefits Claims professionals within the Property & Casualty Insurance industry and the role will be assessed depending on your level of expertise.
  • Must have a minimum of 2+ years of Accident Benefit claims handling experience
  • Understanding of basic limits level to CAT claims with a thorough knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS)
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation governing auto insurance, with ancillary legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional problem solving ability.
  • Fluency in French and English is considered an asset.
  • College Diploma or University Degree preferred

Flexible Work Arrangements Right now, we support 100% remote work, if your role permits. Once it’s safe to do so, we will move to a hybrid approach which will give everyone the best of both worlds – a mix of home and in-office workdays.
