Civil/Structural Intermediate Engineer

NAC is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Civil/Structural Intermediate Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at our Head Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently planning and executing engineering tasks, demonstrating sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. This role entails preparing or revising drawings, specifications, reports and letters in alignment with project requirements, industry standards and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently plan and execute engineering tasks related to civil and structural projects.
  • Evaluate project requirements, constraints and objectives to determine appropriate engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to help define the project scope, objectives and timelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure cohesive project design and implementation
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform complex calculations and simulations to prepare engineering documents.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed drawings and specifications for civil and structural elements of Projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and project documentation to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Perform calculations and analyses to ensure the integrity, safety and performance of designed structures.
  • Review and interpret engineering codes, standards and regulations to ensure compliance in project deliverables.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors and stakeholders to address queries, provide clarifications and manage expectations.
  • Provide input in the development and implementation of quality control processes to verify the accuracy and integrity of engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist in mentoring and guiding junior engineers and support staff as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, codes and regulations related to civil and structural engineering. Seek opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Prioritize safety in all engineering decisions and designs. Ensure compliance with safety standards and guidelines during the planning and execution of projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Practicing Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian Province, with the ability and willingness to obtain designation in other Provinces
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in civil and structural engineering
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
  • Solid understanding of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a Team
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Some travel within Canada may be required
