We are seeking an experienced Civil Utility Foreman to join our dynamic team and lead utility projects with a focus on safety and quality.

Job Summary:



We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Civil Utility Foreman to oversee utility installation and maintenance projects, including Hydro, Streetlight, Communications and Natural Gas systems. The successful candidate will lead a crew, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and maintain the highest standards of workmanship while meeting project deadlines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:



Supervise and coordinate daily activities of a crew performing utility installations.

Ensure all work adheres to project plans, specifications, and municipal standards.

Prioritize and enforce strict safety protocols in compliance with Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and company policies.

Conduct daily toolbox talks, site inspections, and risk assessments to maintain a safe work environment.

Monitor and maintain quality control, ensuring all installations meet or exceed industry standards.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution.

Manage equipment, materials, and labor resources effectively to meet project schedules and budgets.

Train and mentor crew members to foster skill development and a culture of safety.

Prepare daily reports, track progress, and communicate updates to project managers.

Resolve on-site issues promptly to maintain productivity and safety.

Qualifications:



Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 1 years as a foreman or lead hand in utility projects.

In-depth knowledge of Hydro, Streetlight, and Natural Gas system installation.

Strong understanding of Ontario's construction safety regulations (OHSA) and industry best practices.

Valid certifications such as Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, and First Aid/CPR (preferred).

Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse crew.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Valid G driver's license.

Experience and knowledge of Book 7 traffic control setups required.

Understanding of duct bank installation and trenching techniques essential.

Advanced knowledge of underground utility locates is mandatory

Familiarity with Ottawa's municipal standards and permitting processes is an advantage.

Requirements:



Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as project needs require.
